  • A. How many questions are there in this part of the exam?

  • B. How many questions must you answer?

  • C. How many words do you need to write?

 

FOCUS ON THE QUESTIONS


1. Read question 2 and follow these steps to help plan your answer.

  • Make a list of the things you do to help you learn a language. Check the spellings.

  • Decide if you think having classes is better than visiting a country where the language is spoken.

  • Write down two or three reasons to support your opinion.

  • Make a list of advantages of each way of learning a language.

  • Make a list of disadvantages of each way of learning a language.



2. Now read question 3 and follow these steps.

  • Look at the sentence given and think of a story you could write.

  • Write a sentence for each of the points.

  • What happens in the second sentence?

  • What will happen after that?

  • How will your story end?

  • Write down five or six useful words and phrases that you can use in your story


3. Look at your notes you made for both questions and choose which question you will answer.

Think about these things.

  • Do you have enough ideas for the article?

  • Do you know all the vocabulary you'll need?

  • Can you write 100 words?

Learning a language

Is the best way to learn a language by going to classes or by going to a country where the language is spoken? Whatever method you choose, it will take time and practice.
